Twalumba Konayuma's Testimony of Salvation
konayumatwalumba

My name is Twalumba Konayuma and I am 13 years old. I am in my ninth grade at St. Mary’s Secondary School. I am considering being an architect when I grow up.

Well, I became a Christian at the December 2009 Junior Youth Camp after listening to one of the evening sermons by Pastor Saidi Chishimba of Faith Baptist Church in Kitwe. The camp theme was Vanity of Vanities. Pastor Saidi in his sermon, talked about how unwise it is for a person to die without Christ. And to drive his point home, he told a story of a friend of his who was very ambitious, but on the day he was going to get his dream job, he was involved in an accident and died without becoming a Christian. I was deeply moved by this story. Pastor Saidi also talked about how death can strike at any moment and how important it is for one to receive Christ in their life so that they are ready for death. He explained that the escape from death is found in the Lord Jesus Christ alone by repenting and asking for forgiveness of all known sins and believing that he (Christ) alone is the only one who can save you. There have been moments when I have doubted my salvation because of sin. I sometimes lie, or I am rude or selfish to people. However, I find encouragement in what the Scriptures teach concerning sin and God’s forgiveness; God in his word has promised to love me to the end.

My Christian life has been of great help to me at school, I know that bad company corrupts good morals (1 Corinthians 15:33) and just as an iron sharpens iron so does man sharpen another. So I’ve been very careful with the kind of friends I choose to hang out with. I also pray that my life at school will be an example to others in faith, love, conduct, speech and purity. In school, I’ve also been aware of peer pressure. I’ve come across many challenges but I’ve been able to face and overcome some them because I know that I can do all things through Christ who strengths me! Amen.
